GitLab Upgrade to current version

The GitLab running at GitLab is version 7.10.4, which is several years old, and lacks lacks key features that are available in later versions of GitLab, such as continuous integration and tracking.

The current version of GitLab, 10.2.2, is running on a test server, gitclone0.resource.campus.njit.edux , at GitLab 10.2.2]. This GitLab server is a clone of git.njit.edu that was upgrade34d from 7.4.10 to 10.2.2 with major input from Gitlab technical staff. gitclone0 contains all user content from git.njjt.edu as of 11/29/2017.

Testing

Before upgrading git.njit.edu to the current GitLab version, user testing needs to be done on gitclone0.

Please thoroughly test gitclone0 for:

  1. Preservation of all of your data from git.njit.edu
  2. Functionality of features of interest to you that are available on 10.2.2 but not on 7.10.4

We ask that you complete your testing by Friday 12/15/2017.

When you have completed testing, please inform arcs@njit.edu of the results.

Cutover to GitLab 10.2.2 on git.njit.edu

Once it has been determined that gitclone0 is functioning properly, an additional step is needed : ARCS staff will upgrade a clone of git.njit.edu from 7.10.4 to 10.2.2 without any assistance from Gitlab technical staff. If that is successful, the testing in steps 1 and 2 above will need to be repeated. If that is successful, git.njit.edu will be upgraded from 7.4.10 to 10.2.2. That upgrade will require an expected 2 hour git.njit.edu downtime.
